Keeping orchids in top-growing condition is crucial to having healthy plants that will bloom year after year. Comfortable homes for humans, with low humidity and uneven temperatures, are rarely ideal for orchid growing. The best growing environment for many species of orchids requires greenhouse conditions to closely monitor temperature, light, humidity, and air circulation. For this reason, many orchid fanciers simply discard plants that have finished blooming and replace them with new plants. Now there is an alternative to consider! Orchid Boarding will allow you to keep your lovely investment alive and in top condition, for you to enjoy when it comes into bloom again year after year.
Hamilton Orchids has over 17,000 sq. ft. of computerized climate-controlled greenhouse space devoted to orchid boarding. For over 20 years, our satisfied customers have been watching their collections flourish under the skillful care of our horticulturally-trained staff.
Here's How It Works:
- Hamilton Orchids will pick up your orchid collection and inventory the plants for boarding.
- The cost of boarding for new customers starts at only 7 sq. ft. minimum @ $5.50 per sq. ft. = $38.50 per month.
- Included in your boarding fee is repotting into fresh mix, watering, fertilizing, pest control, and environmental conditions that match the needs of each orchid.
- As your orchid begins to send up a bloom spike, it is tenderly staked and tied ready to return to you as it comes into bloom.
- At the perfect time, your orchid is returned to you, to be thoroughly enjoyed as it blooms!
- A call to us when the bloom fades will bring us back to pick up the orchid.
- We welcome it back into the greenhouse with a spa treatment of being repotted, groomed, and fertilized for another season of healthy growing!
